Each semester, ESA brings a group of members on a career trip to visit businesses, learn more about potential careers, and expand their network. In the Spring 2017 semester, 10 students traveled to New York City and met with companies from a variety of industries; including Goldman Sachs, Sullivan & Cromwell Law Firm, and many others.
Day 1: ESA was able to visit with digital ad agency Carrot Creative, and global powerhouses Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. Afterwards they traveled to Times Square, making a stop at the Fearless Girl and Charging Bull Statues. Later that night the group had a social with the Badgers in Finance and Investment Banking Club, also meeting up with some Wisconsin alumni.
Day 2: ESA met with Sullivan and Cromwell Law Firm and Lerer Hippeau Ventures. Later they traveled to Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Grand Central Station. That night they were also able to watch a Met’s game at Citi Field.
Day 3: On the last day of the trip ESA met with Goldman Sachs. Before they flew back to Madison they had the opportunity to see the 9/11 Memorial, High Line and Chelsea Market, and Battery Park, enjoying amazing views of the Statue of Liberty.
Over the past few years ESA has traveled to New York, Chicago, and Minneapolis, each trip yielding numerous new connections and great experiences. As economics is a very broad field, these trips are valuable to students with interests ranging anywhere from Investment Banking to Law.
